4 Unique Ways to Keep Your Car Smelling Good

Ways to Keep Your Car Smelling Fresh

Many Americans spend a great amount of their time in cars. A personal vehicle is like an extension of our living area: it’s like a mobile room, and when you spend frequent amounts of time in one place– well, things can start to smell funny after a while. Fortunately, there are many ways to keep your car smelling good. Here are a few to consider:

Keep Your Car Smelling Fresh

1. Coffee Beans

Coffee is considered a pleasant smell by many people. You can keep that pleasant scent in your car all day by creating a coffee air freshener. Simply take a sock and fill it with coffee beans. Tie or knot the sock closed and put it under a seat. If you have a second sock, stick it under the other seat. Paper bags or cloth satchels work well too.

2. Baking Soda

One of the simple ways to keep your call smelling good is to use baking soda! Baking soda has been used to eliminate odors for generations. Baking soda absorbs, traps and locks in smells by neutralizing the odor. It’s used in refrigerators, as toothpaste, and in cleaning up spots in fabrics. Or, you can simply sprinkle it into your carpets and seats, scrub it in with a brush, and let it sit overnight. In the morning use a vacuum to clean it up and sweep away any residue.

3. Essential Oils

Add 10 to 15 drops of an essential oil to a clay disc or a cotton ball, let it absorb the oil, and then simply place it in your car and enjoy the scented air. You can find diffusers and special-purpose clay discs at craft stores, specialty stores, or even online. You can experiment around with different scents, too! Some essential oils help focus and clarity (great while driving) while other oils are good for energy, mood enhancement, or happiness.

4. Dryer Sheets

Keeping an open box of dryer sheets under the seat of your car is great for several reasons. For one, it’s a cheaper air-freshener alternative and lasts more than three months. Also, if you live in a dry area or your clothes have static electricity in them, rubbing dryer sheets on yourself helps a lot! Or, if you’re a smoker, just use a few dryer sheets by sticking one or two in your pocket or rubbing them on your clothes and you’ll smell like you just pulled your clothes out of the dryer!

Bottom line

These are but a few ways to keep your call smelling good, but there are many more solutions including plug-in air fresheners, deep cleaning your car and upholstery, and vacuuming and cleaning it out on a regular basis.
